Healing Faith

One ministry we had the pleasure of serving alongside was Kari & Jason Segner's ministry, Healing Faith.  They moved their family of 6 from Texas to Uganda a little over a year ago.  They're doing some amazing things there and we're so excited that we had the chance to serve alongside them!

{from their website - about HF}

Healing Faith is a ministry that seeks to provide healing physically, emotionally and spiritually to the people of Uganda. We will provide physical healing through medical and maternal care. We also hope to enable an emotional and spiritual healing by showing the love and grace of our Savior to the people of Uganda. We want to seek God’s will in our lives as we serve his children and people in Uganda.

To learn more about Healing Faith, check out their website HERE. And if you're looking for a ministry to support - please considering praying about Healing Faith!

Now... here are some pictures from our afternoon in the villages with them!

They start each visit to the villages with a little fun and games!  It gives the families a chance to make their way over - as well as a way to bond and have some fun with the younger ones!

Jason bringing in some of the supplies!  {such a Ugandan already!}

Steven from our team got to work closely alongside Jason as they triaged patients!

Jessica, Sarah and Rachel painted nails... even the boys came running!

Kari & Jason - thank you for allowing us to experience what you do!  What an amazing thing you are all doing and we're excited about our next trip back!

Many thanks, Voices 4 the Voiceless Team

Afternoon in the markets

We got to experience the markets one afternoon while in Uganda!  This was a first for all of us and one I will never forget!  I loved the true experience of a new culture by simply going and walking the markets!  It was crowded, exciting and oh so different from anything here in America!  See for yourself!

Vendors are set up all over and each one begging for your business!  Its hard to say, "no thank you" to so many - but you have to and continue on.

Fish galore!

Thank goodness for Kari's help!  Everything is measured in kilo and if you ask me - I'm clueless!

At first glance you might think those are limes... but they're actually oranges!

What an exciting time!  Thank you all for reading!  Be sure to check back for updates and pictures!

Serving His Children

While in Jinja our team had the privilege of visiting with another ministry, Serving His Children.

Serving His Children is a pretty amazing ministry run by a woman named Renee Bach.  We met up with her mid week to take a tour of their facility and learn more about her ministry.

{From their website}
Serving His Children’s mission is to reflect the unconditional love of Christ as we rehabilitate the physical bodies of severely malnourished children and strive to make long term changes in the hearts of the families involved.  It is our belief that malnutrition is a cycle and that the physical body of a child may be healed but the cycle will not be broken without the education of the family and changes in the home.  We believe that every family comes to us by divine appointment and it is our desire that no one should leave without a clear physical picture of the love of Christ and an understanding of His saving gospel!
. . . . . . . . . . . . .

We were so excited to learn about them and how they help to nourish these children back to health.  But more importantly, how they educate the families in the process.  It was so encouraging to see the process of how they do this with each family that comes in!

Renee has a pretty incredible testimony herself - just to see how the Lord brought her to Uganda by starting a feeding program - to evolving into something even deeper!  She is a remarkable woman doing the work of the Lord through Serving His Children!

While visiting with them, we were able to deliver many of the donations that so many of you graciously donated prior to our leaving for Uganda.  What a blessing they were to them and we thankful to have been able to give them.

To learn more about Renee Bach and her ministry, Serving His Children... go check out there website HERE.  We're so thankful we got to visit with them and learn more about their work!  We pray you might consider getting involved and seeing how you can be a blessing to them!

Many thanks, Voices 4 the Voiceless Team

Come with Us!

I wish I could bring you to Uganda with us, even for just a day so you could see what it's like. I would love so much for you to fall in love with this country that has stolen our hearts.

I would show you the beauty and power of God's creation in Lake Victoria and the rest of the Nile and in the lush, green landscape of the country.

I would take you to the Source internet cafe and buy you a Fanta in a glass bottle and tell you about all the memories I have in this place.

I would introduce you to some of the warmest, most grateful and most hospitable people you could ever meet.

Our hearts would be broken together for the injustice in the world. And we would give thanks together too...for all we have been blessed with and for all the ways God is at work in the world and in our hearts.

Sadly, we cannot physically take you along on this trip with us. (Although, we never know what God has planned for the future. Next time...)

But we would like very much for you to stay in touch with us and experience this trip with us as much as possible.

There are several ways you can keep up with our team (as long as our internet access cooperates there!). We are hoping to post here on the Voices 4 the Voiceless blog each day, and you can also follow our team via social media.

Here's how to stay in touch:

• Follow us on Instagram-  #v4vuganda

• Become a fan of Voices 4 the Voiceless on Facebook

• Follow us on Twitter-  #v4vorphancare

• And of course, follow us HERE!

We are also in need of some prayer partners to labor with us while we are gone. We would like to have someone scheduled to pray specifically for us each day of our trip. Obviously, we would love for you to pray for us every day, but we also would like to have a prayer warrior assigned for more intentional, focused prayer each day. If you would be willing to join our team in this way, shoot me an email at rachel@voices4thevoiceless.org. I will set you up for your day and send you some specific guidelines.

So, as we get ready for this adventure the Lord has laid before us, please make plans to be a part. We'd love to have you along for the ride!

Sort & Packing Day

What an amazing way to start off the new year... today we had the team over for an awesome day of fellowship!  We talked about our upcoming trip back to Uganda, ate lunch, and sorted all the donations for the trip!  Wow is all I have to say!  It was a fantastic day and we're all more on fire than we were before!  We're all looking forward to a wonderful trip!

We want to especially thank those of you who donated!  Every item whether small or large in size - will be used in great ways!  We're so very grateful to each of you!  Here are some images from our day... enjoy!
